The demolition of the inside of our new house began this week. It's exciting and nerve wrecking to finally start this project. There's so much to get done but great to finally be able to visualize the space with the walls down. The kitchen/great room area in the back of the house is going to be an awesome space. Jim and our general contractor decided that gutting the entire house is the right move. I cannot say that this totally unexpected but it's a decision that will add time (and $$$) it will take to achieve our finished product. There are several joist's that need to be replaced in the first floor front room ceiling. Stuffed inside the walls of the basement, interestingly, were 1940's Marshall Field's ads. The ads were yellow but in surprisingly good condition.
We met with a kitchen designer at the house this week. After four hours of entering measurements into the computer and talking form and function I believe we have a good plan in place.
Baby update: The baby was having his own demolition derby and kicked me so hard (after eating Chick-Fil-A) this week that I literally jumped out of my seat in surprise. He is definitely getting bigger, stronger and more active while I am just getting bigger.
